Empowered by Design & Updating Everything! "Design Impression · Qingdao Design Festival 2022" Opens with Vigor

Recently, the online launching ceremony of the "Design Impression · Qingdao Design Festival 2022" was held in Qingdao. ZHAO Chao, Deputy Dean of Tsinghua (Qingdao) Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research, participated in the event via the Internet. HU Shugui, Chief Engineer of Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, FAN Zeshun, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy Chief Editor of Qingdao Daily, and some award-winning representatives of the "2022 Qingdao Design Impression Competition" participated in the on-site event.

The design festival is sponsored by the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, organized by Qingdao Daily Press Group and Tsinghua (Qingdao) Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research, and supported by Qingdao West Coast New Area Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, Qingdao West Coast New Area Talent Recruitment Center (University-City Integration Office), and the Development and Construction Headquarters of Qingdao Lingshan Bay Film and Television Cultural Industrial Zone. This design festival, under the theme of "Empowered by Design & Updating Everything", will last for one month and set up more than ten events in six major parts, including the "design competition" and "design exhibition".

ZHAO Chao, Deputy Dean of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University and Tsinghua (Qingdao) Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research, delivered an online speech. In his view, this design festival closely follows the theme of "Empowered by Design & Updating Everything", and conforms to the trend of the times to comprehensively promote the development of the industry empowered by design. It is an important practice of interdisciplinary innovation and cross-field development of art and design, and is a good platform for communication and cooperation. He hopes that in-depth communication and ideological collision would promote the development of art and science innovation, and make positive contributions to the interdisciplinary and cross-field innovation and development of the new liberal arts, the overall improvement of the aesthetic quality of the public, and the teaching and research results of the art design discipline serving the national economy and the people's livelihood and other aspects.

Under the guidance of the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, Tsinghua (Qingdao) Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research and Qingdao Daily Press Group cooperate to build an industry exchange platform empowered by design, which has showcased the power of the media and design communities working together.

The list of winners of the "Design Impression · Qingdao Design Festival 2022" Competition was announced at the event site. Five pieces of works have been selected from nearly 200 entries and won the gold awards of the competition, and they are smart seat for the business-class section on Fuxing bullet train from Qingdao Victall Railway Co., Ltd., shuttle train from Qingdao University (individual), Safety and Quiet Run flats from Qingdao Doublestar Tire Industrial Co. Ltd., "Local People/Silver in QINGDAO" cultural and creative IP and derivative design from Qingdao ANDWOOD Household Products Design Co., Ltd. and Smart City Post from Qingdao Pinge Product Design Co., Ltd. Another 10 works won the silver award, 20 works won the bronze award, and 30 works won the excellent award.

The award-winning works are full of creativity, and are both of artistic quality and practical purposes. They have represented strong design competitiveness and embodied the improvement of the product value. As one of the gold award winners and the designer of "Qingdao People/Silver in QINGDAO" cultural and creative IP and derivative design, WANG Haochen from Qingdao ANDWOOD Household Product Design Co., Ltd. said proudly, "as a native of Qingdao, I hope this design could really come into everyone's heart. Deputy Dean ZHAO Chao has commented on the design competition. He said that the works of the Design Impression · Qingdao Design Festival 2022 covered nearly 30 industrial categories, most of which came from local head enterprises, characteristic private enterprises, design colleges, etc., reflecting the new thinking in empowering industrial transformation and economic development of Qingdao. These works have involved more diverse disciplines, from which it is clear that Qingdao is constantly exploring new technologies and applications in the field of industrial design. On the same day, the "Empowered by Design & Updating Everything" Qingdao International Design and Innovation Exhibition was displayed online, and the Academy hosted five major exhibitions: the Excellent Works Exhibition of the "Design Impression · Qingdao Design Festival 2022" Competition/Qingdao Enterprise Guest Exhibition for Prize-winning Works of the 4th Governor Cup Industrial Design Competition, the "Where Art Meets Science · A Better Future is Created" International Exhibition, the Works Exhibition of Chinese Style Art and Design Exposition, the Exhibition on Health, Well-being and Senior-friendly Design, and the Excellent Works Exhibition of the Global Sportswear Design Award.
