Sail with the Wind to Facilitate "the Year of Project Implementation"
On the afternoon of March 10, 2021, Mr. XUE Qingguo, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Qingdao Committee and Vice Mayor, led a delegation to investigate some key projects for 2021 in Qingdao West Coast New Area. During the investigation, Mr. XUE and his delegation visited the project site of Tsinghua (Qingdao) Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research ("the Academy") and listened carefully to the report of the Academy on the construction, inauguration preparation and other work of the Project. While affirming the current achievements of the Academy, Mr. XUE Qingguo also made valuable suggestions on the operation and development of the Academy. DONG Jinwu, Deputy General Director of the Command Office for Development and Construction of Qingdao Lingshan Bay Film and Television Culture Industry Area, and LIU Weidong, Director of the Academy's Office, accompanied Mr. XUE for the investigation.
Mr. DONG and Mr. LIU respectively introduced the construction progress, project investment attraction and development planning of the Academy to the visiting official and his delegation. The Academy will give full play to the advantages of the art and design disciplines of AADTHU, work closely with Tsinghua University on various disciplines, provide diversified services to the government, enterprises and academic institutions through the integration and innovation of art and science and the exchange and communication of art and culture, promote achievement transformation and technology transfer, and drive the industrial upgrading and transformation of Qingdao as well as the replacement of old growth drivers with new ones. Currently, the Academy has reached cooperation intentions with leading enterprises in Qingdao, such as CRRC and Hisense, and is also discussing jointly building an innovative R&D institution with Professor CHENG Jing, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering ("the CAE") and Chair Professor of the School of Medicine, Tsinghua University, and Professor ZHANG Jianmin, Academician of the CAE and Professor of the School of Civil Engineering, Tsinghua University, as well as other academicians of the CAE and Chinese Academy of Sciences.

After listening to the report, Mr. XUE Qingguo paid special attention to the progress of the opening and the building of the high-end talent team of the Academy, and also expressed his high hopes on the future development of the Academy. He pointed out that 2021 is the "year of project implementation" of Qingdao, and all key projects in the whole area should strictly implement the development plan of Qingdao, efficiently promote the project constructions, complete the various construction tasks with high standards and strict requirements, so as to ensure that the projects are put into use as scheduled and play a key role in promoting the social and economic development of the city. At the same time, he also expressed his hope that the Academy could make good use of the talent advantage of Tsinghua University and continue to introduce outstanding and excellent talents from Tsinghua University to Qingdao.

Afterward, Mr. XUE Qingguo and his delegation visited the exhibition in preparation, which is themed arts and science integration, and listened to the report on the preparation of the inauguration ceremony of the Academy. After learning that the Academy planned to hold a series of art-science integration thematic events, such as exhibition, international academic forum, and fashion show, etc., and invite important people from the industry, academia and research fields at home and abroad, which would lead to a feast where arts and sciences will meet, Mr. XUE Qingguo expressed his expectation for the upcoming inauguration ceremony of the Academy. In due course, Mr. LIU Weidong also extended the invitation to Mr. XUE Qingguo to attend the inauguration ceremony and provide further guidance to the operation and development of the Academy.

At the beginning of the year 2021, Qingdao has clearly defined the strategic deployment of "the Year of Project Implementation", with the target to implement all major projects with a practical spirit and top-notch attitude, so as to promote high-quality socio-economic development. Taking advantage of such momentum, the Academy's various preparatory tasks are also in full swing, making sure that it's not only planning in the spring, the beginning season of the year, but even in the time earlier than the spring. Tsinghua University's early research institutes in different places have achieved brilliant results. Tsinghua (Qingdao) Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research also has the confidence and capability to reach the high expectations of Qingdao City, Tsinghua University and the West Coast New Area, and build a research institution with international first-class standards.
