"Harmonious Mental Space" China Spatial Art Construction Exhibition 2021
The year of 2021 is the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan. The Environmental Design Art Committee of China Artists Association, together with the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, School of Architecture and Art of Central South University, and LuXun Academy of Fine Arts, will jointly host the "Harmonious Mental Space" China Spatial Art Construction Exhibition 2021 in order to fulfill the national strategy of culture-intensifying and innovation-driven development, thoroughly implement the guiding principles of the important speech of General Secretary XI Jinping during his visit at Tsinghua University, and strengthen the integration of arts, crafts, science and technology.
I. Contents
(I) Name

(II) Theme
"Arts, Crafts, Science and Technology"
Interpretation of the theme: Arts, crafts, science, and technology are complementing and promoting each other and bringing out the best in each other. In the future, how to integrate and innovate arts, crafts, science and technology will create new developmental advantages.
(III) Purpose
1. Implement the guiding principles of the 14th Five-Year Plan and the instructions on "deepening humanistic cooperation in the fields of science and technology, culture and arts, forming a diversified and interactive humanistic exchange pattern and setting up a bridge for mutual learning" in the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035, and explore the development potential in the cross fields of art design and cutting-edge technology via interdisciplinary combination of environmental art, spatial art, public art, installation art, sculpture art and other art forms with the science.
2. Strengthen the cultivation of the comprehensive strength of artistic talents, stimulate innovative thinking, cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial abilities of the students, and temper and improve their team consciousness, practical competence and actual ability to construct design proposals. Finally enhance their professional practical ability, boost the reform and innovation of training model of art design professionals in colleges and universities, promote the organic integration of art design education theory and practice, and enhance the ability of art education in serving innovation and development.
3. Concentratively show the charm of field creation, incorporate rich artistic, technological and humanistic elements into the field production process, let creators and visitors fully appreciate the integration and innovation of art and science, and give full play to the role of art in serving the economic and social development so as to better meet the public’s needs for high-quality life.
(IV) Requirements
Full-time teachers and students majoring in art and design from all universities across the country can participate in the exhibition in the form of teams. Each team includes no more than 10 members (including 1-2 teachers).
(V) Process
Each team first creates a design proposal and produces and submits a physical model (with multi-angle photos) of no less than 1:10. After the design proposal has passed the preliminary evaluation, the team will participate in exhibiting the construction works on the site, and the experts will review the works on the spot.
(VI) Timetable
June 10, 2021: Release the invitations to candidate institutions and the collection of works.
August 10, 2021: The design proposals can be submitted and
September 24, 2021: The participating teams will enter the venue to prepare for the construction of the works.
September 25, 2021: The participating teams will construct the works on the site and the opening/closing ceremony will be held.
September 26, 2021: Hold a social open day dedicated to the National Day.

An academic seminar with the theme of "China Spatial Art Construction Exhibition • Basic Education and Practice of Art Design" will be held at 14:00-16:00, September 25.

III. Rules
(I) Exhibited works
1. Pre-selection of works
(1) The participating teams should send the electronic files of the works (including model files, dynamic presentation files, layout files and design instructions) and registration form (see the Appendix) to the e-mail box of Organizing Committee: office@tasa-edu.cn. The deadline for submission of design proposals is 24:00, August 10, 2021. Late proposals will not be accepted.
(2) The proposal model should be submitted in OBJ, 3DS or STL format and the file size does not exceed 50M. For the dynamic demonstration video, the duration is no more than 2min, the file size is no more than 100M, and the unified submission format is mp4.
(3) The works should be typeset according to the standard layout given by the Organizing Committee, including top, front, left and right views and necessary cross-sectional views, renderings or sketches photos, and type matters. The plate format is jpg or png with the resolution of 300dpi, and a single file does not exceed 5M. Any information about participating schools and authors, including pictures, text and video content, must not appear in the exhibited works.
(4) Design description should be written in less than 300 words and submitted in Word format.
(5) After being submitted, the design proposals will be reviewed under the organization of the Organizing Committee. The works, which do not meet the content and submission requirements of the Exhibition, will not be accepted. After the acceptable works are processed anonymously, the shortlisted works will be reviewed by the Review Committee.
(6) The works will be reviewed on August 11, 2021 and the review results will be announced on August 12, 2021 on the official website and WeChat public account of Tsinghua (Qingdao) Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research, or by phone call of the Organizing Committee.
2. Constructing works on site
(1) Each participating team should independently prepare, cut and process the exhibiting materials early. The unit components must be produced in advance according to the exhibition requirements (pre-assembly is not allowed) and mailed to the designated mailing address of the Organizing Committee 2 days in advance, so that the works can be completed successfully within the specified time on the day of the Exhibition.
(2) The works should be made at the site according to the exhibition time (8:00-16:00). Main materials are cardboard materials, whose specifications should be in line with the Appendix. Auxiliary materials and tools must also be prepared by each team.
(3) The size of the field works should be controlled within the range of 3000 mm (L) × 3000 mm (W) × 3000 mm (H).
(4) The Organizing Committee provides basic power, and the exhibiting team prepares effect lighting and corresponding scientific and technological facilities required. Heating light sources are not accepted. The safe and waterproof protection treatment must be done for all circuits.
(5) The works will be rated on the site by review experts to sort out final results.
(6) The Exhibition will strictly follow the principles of fairness, openness and impartiality. The Review Committee will comprehensively rate the works in terms of innovation, objectivity, feasibility, practicality and artistry.
(7) If requiring financial support, the participating team can submit the application form along with additional fund application and cost schedules. After these materials have been reviewed and approved by the Organizing Committee, a certain amount of funding can be subsidized according to relevant regulations. The funding subsidy standard for each participating team must not be more than RMB 1,000.
(II) Open Day
The exhibition site will be open to the public on the Opening Day (10:00-21:00, September 26), and each participating team can arrange commentators and maintenance personnel as appropriate.
(III) Awards for authors
1. During the exhibition, 60 shortlisted works, including 10 ingeniously constructed works and 10 innovative and creative works, will be selected finally.
2. The Sponsor will issue a certificate to the author.
(IV) Publicity of results
The results will be released through the official website of the Exhibition and relevant media platforms.
IV. Miscellaneous
(I) Intellectual property
The participating team must ensure the originality of the submitted proposal, and the participating team and the Organizing Committee shall jointly share the intellectual property right of the final works. The submitted works, which have been found to infringe the intellectual property rights of others, will be rejected. During the exhibition or promotion process of the exhibited works, both parties will discuss the conversion method and relevant rules separately in case of any conversion of intellectual property rights.
(II) Security of works
After the works are completed, the organizers will be responsible for site care and security during the exhibition phase. The participating team should be responsible for the structure and safety of the works itself.
(III) Sponsorship
The Sponsor shall have the right to exhibit, research, photograph, record, publish and promote all works selected.
