In this Salon, Mr. ZHAO Chao first introduced the overall structure, development ideas, institutional cooperation, opening ceremony, preparation for the design festival, and other aspects of TASA in detail. He said that each discipline of Tsinghua University had a broad range and a different focus, and the feature of AADTHU's academic resources covering clothing, food, accommodation and transportation may be fully utilized to eliminate the inter-disciplinary barriers, scientifically integrate technological, cultural and economic resources, create the whole industry chain and promote the transformation of the whole industry chain, and finally establish any innovative design brand and enterprise. TASA is established to make up for AADTHU's shortcomings in scientific research industrialization and provide a more complete technological support platform for cultural inheritance and transformation.

❏ Mr. ZHAO Chao points out TASA’s advantage of integrating industry, university and institute. 

Professor DU Dakai fully affirmed all the work results of TASA and said that it's really rare to see such results as achieved in TASA's construction and development within a year and a half in the industry. Professor DU Dakai was concerned about the difficulties in the development of different industries in China. With great foresight, he said that TASA should focus on addressing the bottlenecks of national development in the future. He hoped that TASA could reasonably use the top-level academic resources of Tsinghua University to promote the realization of ambitious goals — national industrial progress and social development. Taking the rural modernization reform and the development of China's ceramic industry as examples, Professor DU Dakai expected that TASA, as an industry-university-research innovation platform, would be able to collect and integrate superior resources from the government, university, enterprise, and other parties, to address current social issues. Meanwhile, he stressed that the development planning of TASA was organically linked to that of Qingdao to create a co-existence and win-win situation. Qingdao is an important coastal port city in China, with rich industrial design resources and broad international vision. TASA is established to meet Qingdao's development requirements, and TASA and Qingdao City supplement each other. TASA injects fresh blood into Qingdao's industrial design field, and meanwhile use Qingdao' industrial strengths to lay a solid foundation for future development. In addition, Professor DU Dakai commented on the relation between art and science and thought that the integration of science and art would facilitate the construction and development of disciplines of liberal arts and meanwhile help explore the relations between art, science and society, promote designer's and producer's clear understanding of demands, gain social recognition, and achieve social reform.

Professor LI Zheng'an reviewed the development history of cooperation between AADTHU and Zibo City in expanding ceramic industry. He proposed that TASA should actually start from learning about regional industry and utilize excellent resources and ideas of university teachers to meet industrial requirements, and that in the transformation of achievements, teachers are willing to provide help for TASA.

Professor YAN Yang thought that for the existing bottlenecks in many disciplinary platforms, only the significant reform could break the boundaries between fields and eliminate self-restrictions. The establishment of TASA's platform is a very good opportunity. TASA may be deemed as an industrial transformation and innovative practice base for all disciplines in AADTHU and even in Tsinghua University, and the unified value of art and science can be created only through fusion of and interaction between different disciplines. Professor YAN Yang also proposed that TASA should focus on the building of an exhibition brand and carry out large-scale and high-level exhibitions covering clothing, food, accommodation, and transportation, with the annual theme of new concept. TASA should speak to the society in the exhibition, promote its unique brand and ideas, and truly serve the industry and create the output value with ideas. 

❏ Professor YAN Yang puts forward valuable advice on the creation of TASA's brand value. 

Professor MA Quan put forward valuable advice on the future cooperation mode and common development mechanism of TASA and enterprises. Although it's strongly backed by superior resources from Tsinghua University and AADTHU, TASA should develop in accordance with the basic rules for the market and capital and focus on both research and its own "blood making" capacity. Although it's an educational institution, TASA cannot be restricted by the teaching and creation ideas and should get ready to participate in business competition in the market. 

❏ Professor MA Quan puts forward valuable advice on the mode of cooperation between TASA and enterprises. 

Professor ZHANG Yue had deep and profound reflection on the construction and development speed of TASA and thought that it's rare to see such results achieved within a year and a half. He thought that TASA should focus on efficient integration of scientific research advantages of Tsinghua University and create its own unique advantages in line with core industrial requirements in the process of development, and based on this, cooperate with enterprises to gradually establish a highly innovative and deeply integrated brand concept for TASA. Unlike any development goal of any college or university, TASA should invest more efforts in developing from social perspectives and adjust the management model around the new business formats, so as to provide forward-looking insights and practical and strong scientific research support for the industry-university-research transformation, enterprise development, and the transformation of design industry chain. 

❏ Professor ZHANG Yue says that TASA should focus on integrating the scientific research advantages of Tsinghua University in itsdevelopment.

Professor WU Shizhong gave advice to TASA in two aspects: To (1) improve strength and identify development direction, and (2) conduct the integrated innovation of art and science and develop its own brand advantages. AADTHU is powerful itself. Based on this, therefore, TASA should contribute to the vigorous development of businesses outside the AADTHU's business scope. Premier LI Keqiang once proposed the concept of "mass entrepreneurship and innovation". TASA should also pay attention to the cultivation of leading talents in innovative design, take innovative ideas as the core value of TASA, and transform intangible design philosophy into tangible design product through cooperation with enterprises, so as to change people's lifestyle in the future.

Professor JIN Na also pointed out that TASA can transform the resources of scientific research and excellent achievements of Tsinghua University to design products which have an influence on people's lifestyle through cooperation with enterprises. Meanwhile, it should take full advantages of cultural soft power such as art exhibition to make art and science more diversified in the form of culture communication and bring a comprehensive influence on people's understanding of art and science.

Associate Professor WANG Yue talked about her own experience in the cooperation with enterprises and some regrets in the transformation of result achievements in the university in the current society. She hoped that TASA could serve as a platform connecting the university with enterprises, break the barrier to technical communication and achieve wide application of more excellent research achievements in the society. She believed that based on the successful transformation of research achievements in various subjects, TASA is able to serve as a bridge to connect the tradition with the present and the future.

Associate Professor LI Jing thought that the establishment of TASA can provide opportunities for teachers in the university to make further development towards the society and the industry. He believed that in the future, more teachers would introduce projects and resources to TASA and jointly participate in the construction of the big platform.

Finally, Mr. ZHAO Chao expressed gratitude to the leaders at all levels of AADTHU for their consistent support and care. At the same time, he hoped that the teachers from Tsinghua University and resources from all sectors of the society could realize win-win cooperation with TASA, and jointly conduct scientific research and transformation of research achievements. The successful holding of the first salon has a far-reaching influence on the development of TASA and also provides us with valuable experience. TASA will continue to hold art and science innovation salons with AADTHU and ASRC, constantly improve the academic level and expand the scale of activities, so as to push the academic level of TASA to the peak.
